Who can participate?
The ChickQuest spring program session hatching kits are made for K-6 th grade. Classrooms with students outside these levels are still able to sign up, but will be placed on a waitlist until two weeks before registration closes to allow target-grade classrooms a chance to signup first. Requests for more than two incubators at one school will also be placed on a waitlist until one week before registration closes. Reservations for hatching kits are first-come, first-served. Confirmations for kit reservations are sent by email with payment link.
Individuals are expected to take care of incubators and supplies, and to treat chicks humanely. We recommend children do not touch the eggs or chicks and that hand-washing guidelines are followed by adults.
What is in the classroom hatching kits?
Kits include, for the duration of the program:
- Incubator
- Egg turner
- Hatching supplies
- One teacher guidebook
- One dozen fertilized eggs
Please note: We are unable to collect chicks to find a home. Please ensure you have a home prior to signing up to participate.
What is the cost?
This year, classroom hatching kits are $35.00. Additional curriculum including student logbooks can be purchased from our office. Student logbooks are not included in hatching kit and must be purchased for class use. Please email us at least 2 weeks prior to participation if you are interested after reservation is confirmed. The total will be added to your cost for participation.
