Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
What is EFNEP?
What you eat plays a major role in your health and how you feel. When you eat right, you feel better. You look better. And, you have more energy. A nutritious diet also helps children develop and attain their full level of growth and learning potential. The EFNEP Program of Montgomery and Clark County Extension is here to help you achieve these benefits and more!
What the participants learn:
… how to stretch food dollars to last the whole month
… how to prepare simple, tasty, nutritious meals for the family
… how to read and understand food labels for nutrition and savings
… how to prepare favorite foods while lowering fat and cholesterol content
… how to prepare and store food safely
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a federally funded, free of charge program. Our goal is to improve the diets and quality of life of families with young children.
A series of lessons is taught by trained paraprofessionals that include hands-on activities and food demonstrations to make learning to eat healthy a fun and interesting experience! Classes are designed to encourage self-sufficiency skills and lifelong healthy eating habits. Classes are taught in small groups with an emphasis on class participation. Classes are offered in English, Spanish and Arabic. Sessions include samples of low-cost nutritious recipes, educational videos, games, and hands-on activities.
EFNEP graduates receive Certificates from Ohio State University Extension recognizing successful completion of Montgomery and Clark Counties' premier nutrition education program.
